newbee to fourm lookin for jetboat

Hi,
I'm looking to get a jet boat and would appreciate any advise on what would to get. I live in southeast Idaho and want to be able to fish the south fork, snake, salmon & still fill comfortable on lakes like American Falls when the weather hits.

I have looked @ lots of boats & went fishing on the snake below AF in a new 2010 Wooldridge 17 Alaskan with 2006 150 Evinrude the other evening . All that did is make me want a jet even more :!:

I'm pretty sure I want a SJ or outboard just not sure what brand of boat would work best for all around applications. Tomorrow I am going to look @ a new Rouge Marine 18' Scrambler I think is the model.

I called on a I thought a great deal Monday witch was a 1999 Hewescraft riverrunner 21' with 175 SJ loaded and clean for 13900 but sold 2 days before. Dar-nit I think

Anyhow thanks in advance for all advice on what to get.

Welcome, the hardest thing to buying a jet boat is knowing how your going to use it, that has a lot to do with what kind of boat to buy. It sounds like you have pretty well decided how your going to use the boat. The first boat I bought turned out to be too small and under powered but I didn't find that out until after I purchased it and started boating. I thought I would be spending most of my time on the lake fishing...turns out that after my first river run I changed my mind. I spend most of my time on the rivers and little time on the lakes. Good luck in your search. We have some good jet boaters on that side of the state that could probably help you...where are you from?

I live in Pocatello & I know I dont want something underpowered & the more I look @ some used boats the picker I get I looked @ a Duckworth locally ( not impressed at all)
I am going up to Idaho Falls to look @ a new Rouge marine 20' Scrambler & some others.

I have a 19' Aluminum AMF Crestliner with 115 Johnson (prop) now that is in great shape. I was told just to put a 200 HP jet on it, but the center keel runs all the to stern I think it might cause cavitation, deed rise at the stern I think is about 8 deg, 1250 lbs without motor.
